give me Liberty! or give me New Shoes… and everything else…

My pages have Google Translate – see below for link to select any language.

I don’t even know if all the Liberty Hotels & Resorts of Türkiye are all-inclusive – and I can’t promise the Liberty Kusadasi remains all-inclusive to this minute, or even if it is worded as an all-inclusive but I will be checking and I bet we will be going back – to one or more of them. But had we wanted to stay at the resort and go nowhere for 5 days we would not have gotten bored or been disappointed.

The Spa and Shopping Colonnade are of course not included, but all the prices were well in line. And like us, you should always ask – before you go – that any place, people or any thing remains as written here or anywhere – planet earth is changing faster than I can keep up in any case.

Liberty Kusadasi

I will be 72, he is older, and we are using the, saved for the trip-of-a-lifetime trips, airmiles, points and specials and turning dreams into realities. At our age, my health, and considering we have limited trips left in us that could be strenuous, I tried to select the places we went to with care. If a senior, like me, is having a bad day, and I had a few down days on the trip, then the accommodation is the most important part of the vacation day and night and entire stay. Being able to rest and eat without a lot of work is our dream vacation.

The Spa: being able to add multiple kinds of reasonably priced spa treatments for our stay was just magic! The facials a must – the massage just wonderful – besides the amazing haircuts we both got and amazing pedicure! The beach on the Aegean looking south or looking to Greece. Golf, Pool and more – all easy.

This is the link to the Liberty Kusadasi and from there you could even see their other amazing properties in Türkiye!

The Aegean Sea. Dai’s y-DNA haplogroup traveled these routes many 1,000s of years ago. Anatolia ~ Türkiye is a country which has many ancient matches in his paternal line haplogroup. Our years of going nowhere and working flat out with little for breaks finally came to an end. This trip of 6,000 miles from home was for rest and healing as much as trip-of-a-lifetime experiences – we got both. Plus the story of genetic genealogy tourism – see below.

For touring, having water, food, the right shoes, sun protection, heat protection and a support system are top concerns for seniors. We wanted one place on our trip to be at the Aegean. We had considered taking a boat/ship from the south of Türkiye to Istanbul when the time came to leave, but the arrangements were difficult. In planning from home, we settled for a place and that did not work out.

Kusadasi, Türkiye brings tourists in many ways, for many reasons. We took a van and enjoyed great views, our cousin came on a cruise ship and then took a bus, and we all visited many of the same places – House of The Virgin Mary, Ephesus Ancient City and Ephesus Selcuk Museum, Rug Weaving and all were so wonderful to visit and experience. But Liberty Resort was so wonderful that with each outing we planned, we felt sad to leave the property that offered so many wonderful things for us to do and enjoy.

Herstory in Ephesus

Ephesus Selcuk Museum

Wikipedia has lots of great details about the early women in Ephesus. The Goddesses all seem to be, almost, rolled into one just with a Greek name or a Roman name – but our lady of Anatolia is much earlier and much different from the later Greek and Roman interloper versions.

But no surviving name? That must be wrong – I have digging to do. Maybe a reader will help out.

Ephesus Selcuk Museum

The museum houses many mothers of Anatolia, the Mother of Ephesus and depiction of Cybele.

And the Great Mother (6000 BCE)Bearing large breasts, an ample belly and wide hips, the Seated Woman of Catalhoyuk is considered evidence of the early and widespread belief in the Mother Goddess in Anatolia

The unnamed mother of Ephesus. The note from Google about the Aegean mother for our herstory, points out that this Anatolian ancient goddess mother is very different from the Greek and the Roman goddesses. I do not think they should even be compared. Our Anatolian mother is her own woman.

You must have the Google story also.

The Ephesus Museum in Turkey has a 2nd century AD statue of Artemis, the mother goddess of the ancient city of Ephesus. The original statue was made of gold, ebony, silver, and black stone and depicted Artemis as a mummy-like goddess standing stiffly with her hands outstretched. Her legs and hips were covered by a garment with animal and bee reliefs, and her upper body was decorated with many breasts. She also wore a high-pillared headdress and a bodice covered in animals, with her chest draped in eggs, gourds, or bull testicles as symbols of fertility.

Artemis, also known as Diana by the Romans, was the patron goddess of Ephesus. Her image in Ephesus differed from Greek and Roman depictions of Artemis, who are often shown as young, energetic, and wearing a short tunic, bow, and hunting dog. Instead, the Artemis of Ephesus was a “mother goddess” and her image represented fertility.

Although the original statue no longer exists, there are many small-scale replicas, including a Roman statuette from the 100s AD in the Getty Museum.

House of the Virgin Mary

It is also no surprise to me that a shrine to the Virgin Mary is there also where all these many mothers through the ages have had a home in Anatolia. Stories of the Virgin Mary living and dying and being buried there have also been part of this ancient region.

Ephesus Ancient City

The Liberty Kusadasi

The Liberty offer everything. The room was wonderful and with a suite with sea view we got a jetted tub that was wonderful. Besides the great food and snacks and multiple pools and spa there was fun in the exercise room to be easy and lazy or have a fine workout.

We see many Liberty properties listed and this stay made us want to visit them all.

New Shoes

Liberty Kusadasi Salon and Spa were the best of the trip and easiest to access and with great people very good at what they do. Fresh Layers!

I don’t have any photos from the spa – I must write and ask them for some pictures.

Every service in their spa should be a must. There are fabulous facials and magnificent massages and an exercise room and yoga classes and trainers and a wonderful salon. Hammams, Saunas, Jacuzzis, Indoor and outdoor pools, play pools, little ones pools and a lovely pool on the beach of the Aegean Sea with every kinds of chair and lounger made, on soft grass on sandy beach with service.

New Shoes! The hair cut and manicure were just wonderful! I did not have to worry about my shoes messing up my new polish – The pedicure artist said with a smile – “you have new shoes!” All travelers MUST have your hair and nails done with the most wonderful!

It is unforgivable that I can’t remember the name of the Manicurist and the Hair Stylist – both were the best I have enjoyed, out of the blue, on four continents.

I told my husband, I was describing to the hair stylist how I use the combs here, and it makes a wave there. And then the wonderful stylist said – and add some “fresh layers” in the back! Yes, yes! I told the stylist, that’s exactly right – fresh layers!!! I said, thrilled. Dai loved the curls that pop when the layers are fresh, he is a stylist that knew just what an old lady needed.

Few manicurists bother to try to stylize my pedicure. I had two broken toes (same cute toes) and the nails must be forced to… TMI??? She was so great, I was just watching, my mouth dropped, that she didn’t just follow the toe line, she could “see” the line they should have been and – made it so. Then the broken just looked straight like the other toes! Delightful!

And more fun on top of that was “New Shoes”. In preparing my feet for polishing the nails, she slipped cut-out shoes onto my feet – saying “new shoes”. The cut-outs so that I would not mess up the polish before it dried and I could walk with something on my feet and wonderful charm for the ages from a pedicure artist! I am a disgrace that I do not have photos and names for both of them – Maybe I can learn them and make an addition!

Visiting the countries where our ancestors came from is an ancient tradition also – the lands of our fathers and mothers call to us. To find your route, you would test your y-DNA if a man or have your father test; test your mt-DNA we all have that and test your autosomal DNA and blend them together into a wonderful mosaic of ancestry.

My favorite go to site for DNA is my own blog here – look in the contents for many how tos and also this site Eupedia.
